Those of us who have children know when they are truly in distress. There is a certain tone to their voice, and when you as a parent, especially a mother, hear that cry you drop whatever you are doing and head straight for them; because the sound of their cry says something is desperately wrong.
The verse says that the Lord inclined, that is, He turned in David’s direction; He stretched, out He bent low, He condescended to and heard or listened to his cry.
Psalm 18 is an action-packed psalm describing how God delivered David from his suffering. Verses 6-10, David said, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, evento His ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the hills also quaked and were shaken, because He was angry. Smoke went up from His nostrils, and devouring fire from His mouth; coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down with darkness under His feet. And He rode upon a cherub, and flew; He flew upon the wings of the wind.”
Now that is a response if I ever read of one! And that is the response your Heavenly Father has towards your cry, He acts swiftly! Once your cry is directed to the Lord then nothing or no one will stop Him from coming to your aid. He will bend in your direction; He will turn Himself favorably toward you and deliver you.
